Surinamese police hold two men with headlights, bag of tiles

Surinamese police have arrested two men with several items, including headlights and tiles, which are believed to have been stolen.

Police said three men, including the two suspects, were loading goods into a vehicle in the Flora resort area in the early morning of November 16. Members of the public who suspected the men were thieves called the police.

Police responded and detained two men, aged 53 and 56, while the third fled. Police seized three headlights, six bags of tiles, an aluminium ladder and a piece of iron.

"As (the suspects) could not explain the origin of the goods, there is a suspicion that they came by them via theft."

Police arrested the suspects and were searching for the third suspect to arrest him as well. The vehicle used in the suspected crime was also seized.

"Any disadvantaged people or owners of the above-mentioned goods are asked to contact the Flora police and file a declaration," the police said.
