Grenada: Mt Granby drug bust suspects sentenced

The three persons, who were detained during the drug bust in Mt Granby, Grenada on May 13, have been sentenced.

St Vincent and the Grenadines national Junior Jamal Charles was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply, entering Grenada illegally and money laundering.

He was fined EC$1,000 which must be paid forthwith.

Failure to pay the fine will result in a one month prison stay.

The state also seized the money he had in his possession during the drug bust.

Charles will be deported after he pays the fine or serves his sentence.

Ramon Ogiste was also charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

He was fined EC$750 and given one month to pay the money.

In default, he will serve one month in prison.

Della Simon was charged with possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply and cultivation of a controlled drug.

She was fined a combined total of EC$2,000.

She has three months to pay the fines or she will be sentenced to a maximum of three months in prison.

The matters were heard on May 18.
