Eastern Airlines plane skids off Cheddi Jagan International runway

An Eastern Airlines flight skidded off the runway at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport this afternoon.

The incident occurred around 2.30 pm, just after the plane landed with over 200 passengers from New York.

There were no reports of injuries to the passengers or crew and damage to the aircraft is being described as minor.

Eastern Airlines is one of the few companies given approval to conduct repatriation flights between Guyana and North America.
