The coronavirus may have stopped a lot of things in 2020 but children from the Caribbean are continuing to shine on an international stage.

From technology, science, the arts and literature, Caribbean kids are paving new roads and showing the world what our developing nations can do.

One such exceptional youngster is Anaya Lee Willabus.

At just 13 years old, she holds many records such as being the Youngest Published Female Author in the United States and the youngest female to publish a chapter book.

She achieved these feats when she was just eight years old.

Willabus has authored three books in her short career.

Her first book titled “Mohan Found His Confidence” tells the story about a young boy named Mohan and the many challenges he faces at home and school.

On today’s observance of International Children’s Day, Willabus, who was born in New York to Guyanese parents, will be the youngest person to be honoured by the Caribbean American Heritage Awards (CARAH).

She joins British Member of Parliament David Lammy as the two people with Guyanese ancestry to receive an award in 2020.

CARAH is honouring Willabus as a Visioneur.
