Two new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases were recorded on the Turks and Caicos Islands yesterday taking the UK territory’s tally to 71.
Health officials said both cases were locally transmitted without clear epidemiological links. The Health Ministry said it has begun an aggressive contact tracing exercise to find people who may have had contact with the infected persons.
Both infections were discovered in a batch of 37 tests conducted between Friday and Saturday. So far, 943 tests have been conducted.
The territory’s active caseload is 57 while its death toll remains at two.
The number of persons in quarantine/observation is 291.
