Medical staff test positive for COVID-19 in Sint Eustatius

Sint Eustatius has experienced a jump in its number of coronavirus cases.  

The government said three medical staff members have now tested positive for COVID-19, two employees from the laboratory of the Sint Eustatius Health Care Foundation and one nurse from the auxiliary home.  

Their results were confirmed yesterday.

Sint Eustatius has since requested immediate medical support from the hospital in Sint Maarten and Bonaire as well as from the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports in the Netherlands.  

The Island Assistance Team is expected to meet today to discuss additional measures, including a possible curfew and other restrictions. 

Only yesterday, Sint Eustatius tightened up on its COVID-19 measures after it reported a positive case on Sunday, September 6.  

The island now has six positive cases and 93 persons in quarantine.
