As citizens turn to social media for entertainment to pass the time while staying indoors to avoid infection of the coronavirus, Digicel has teamed up with various local artistes to deliver an online Cameo Concert series.

The concerts will be streamed live to DigicelTT’s Facebook Page twice a week and are free to the public.

“All of the jazz events we were sponsoring are either cancelled or postponed because of COVID-19 and we wanted to continue our support of local arts and culture despite the cancellations,” states Colin Greaves- Digicel Communications, Sponsorship and Events Executive.

“As the world moves toward adopting a more digital lifestyle, Digicel is there to help people stay connected to the things and people they love. Given all that’s going on, we are happy to inject some positive energy to help people de-stress a bit,” he added.

Starting tomorrow, and continuing every Sunday at 4 pm and Thursday at 7 pm, Digicel will stream live concerts from the homes of various top artistes. The first act being featured is songstress Vaughnette Bigford, one of Trinidad and Tobago’s leading jazz artistes.

“I’m so happy to be even considered by Digicel for this series, especially to be featured on the first show. It gives me a time and space to connect with people who may have missed what I do as an artist, and I’m happy for the time to share some energy and good vibes during these challenging times,” said Bigford.

"Of course we are adhering to the social distancing request. We’re keeping the vibe intimate with a duet of keys and voice. It will really be a lovely Sunday evening vibe, with nice energy and great songs."

Following the show, the performances would be available on Digicel’s Home and Entertainment Video on Demand platform.

Greaves said: “Stay at home and you can depend on Digicel to keep you connected, informed and entertained. We encourage everyone to wash their hands, follow the instructions from the Ministry of Health and enjoy the concerts from the comfort and safety of their homes."
