The Guyana Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission (CCAC) has advised customers to be on the lookout for persons selling fake tablets and other smart devices.

In a statement, CCAC said: “In response to the online teaching and learning initiatives during the COVID 19 pandemic, the demand for computers, tablets and other similar devices has increased and based on the complaints being received by the CCAC, so too has been the action of several unscrupulous suppliers and store owners who are duping consumers with false and misleading claims about the brands and capabilities of the devices.”

The commission said anyone who suspects their device is fake can file a complaint and they will work with the Bureau of Standards to determine if the product is authentic.
